DIY Slime Tutorial
Do your kids love slime but you are worried about what ingredients are lurking in the store bought products? Today you are going to learn how to make slime with only 2 simple non-toxic ingredients that do not include any of the other questionable stuff in homemade slime recipes such as liquid starch, eye-drops, detergents, borax and worse!
It’s super simple so get ready for some slimy fun. It’s beautifully stretchy and squishy and does not stick to your hands! Below is the step by step homemade slime tutorial and at the bottom of the page is a short video demonstrating how to make this wonderfully gooey (and minty) stuff. Enjoy!
Difficulty Level: Easy
Stuff You Need
- PVA Glue
- Small Plastic Mixing Spatula or Knife
- Paper Plate (for mixing on)
Yep! That is all you need! We weren’t kidding when we said it’s only 2 ingredient DIY slime recipe!
First, squeeze out a good blob of toothpaste onto the paper plate – about the same amount as shown in the image below for a small ball of slime
Use your plastic mixing spatula or plastic knife to start mixing the toothpaste together so it is a uniform color, texture and consistency. This also helps the glue to bond to the toothpaste better when we get to that step.
Squeeze out a blob of PVA glue onto the plate next to the toothpaste. DO NOT squirt the glue on top of the toothpaste as it can cause the slime to become watery or even be lumpy – urgh!!! The quantity of glue should be just slightly smaller than the blob of toothpaste used.
Start mixing the glue into the toothpaste little by little.
Continue to mix in more glue as the first lot gets combined with the toothpaste. Take your time.
As you continue to add the glue, you will notice the texture starts to change and you are getting a slime blob!
Finally combine all of the glue into the toothpaste ensuring that there is no glue or toothpaste left separated on the plate.
Once everything is fully combined, pick the slime up with your hands. At this point it will be super sticky and want to stick to your hands.
Use your hands and fingers to mix and squish the slime until it gets to a consistency where it no longer sticks to your fingers. This may take a minute or two. Eventually you will end up with a little slime blob which is perfectly stretchy and squishy!
Check out this short video below which takes you through the process for making your slime step by step. It’s only a couple of minutes, so go on…. give it a watch 🙂
We hope you have lots of fun making this fabulous slime and feel free to share this page with anyone who might enjoy it too.
